We’re pulling back the curtain (or in this case, the tank) on our NSF-certified Q-Series filtered water dispensers to give you an inside look at quenchWATER+ Filtration Technology in action. We offer quenchWATER+, our highest quality drinking water, in all of our Q-Series filtered water dispensers including the Quench Q3, Quench Q4, Quench Q5, Quench Q7, Quench Q8, and Quench Q12 through a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis filter system. This reverse osmosis filter system creates the cleanest drinking water and adds back healthy minerals that can increase hydration.
Our Q-Series machines feature advanced filtration technologies and advanced sanitization technologies that operate interdependently to produce the healthiest, best tasting water with a consistent taste. Curious to know how quenchWATER+ is made? See below for the step-by-step process.
The first order of business is to remove the large contaminants that are tainting your building’s water supplies using a sediment filter. Water with high sediment levels may rapidly clog fine filters and shorten their life, reduce water flow, and generate bad tastes in the water. Sediment filter removes large contaminants and dissolved solids larger than 10 microns, or roughly the size of a piece of sand, from the water. They do not, however, remove chemicals, heavy metals, bacteria, or dissolved particulate matter. That’s the pre-carbon filter’s job.
Next, the water passes through a carbon filter where anything larger than 5 microns, or the size of a speck of flour, gets removed. Activated carbon is widely used in filtration systems, from air filters to blood filters. It’s essentially a form of charcoal with a very high surface area. This adsorbs a wide range of molecules that it encounters. Activated carbon filtration systems for water can trap and remove a large percentage of impurities in water. Activated carbon filtration is common in bottleless water systems; however, an even higher percentage of impurities can be removed using reverse osmosis, which brings us to the next stage of the quenchWATER+ production process, the reverse osmosis filter system.
The next stage of the purification process, the ro water system, uses pressure to force water molecules through an NSF-certified semipermeable membrane (synthetic lining). The ro water system removes all the remaining contaminants from the water, including salts, and fluoride while reducing lead. During reverse osmosis, an applied pressure pushes water from high concentrations of contaminants to low concentrations of contaminants. Contaminants get trapped by the membrane, only allowing pure water to pass through; resulting in the cleanest possible drinking water. Once this stage is complete, it’s time to add back the healthy minerals that were pulled out during the filtration process.
Filtering water is only half the job of our Q-Series filtered water dispensers. Our Q-Series machines also have built-in FDA- and NSF-certified alkaline water filters to make sure your water tastes incredible and consistent no matter where you are in the country. The Mineral+ alkaline water filter adds back a tasty blend of calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium to the water in a controlled environment. Those mineral additives might not sound all that appetizing, but the electrolytes and minerals from the quenchWATER+ produce a revitalizing, refreshing, and hydrating mineral water with a smooth mouthfeel. Plus, mineral add-backs promote alkalinity by increasing the pH level of municipal water. At this point, your water’s journey is almost complete. There is just one more filtration stage to check off the list, the polishing filter.
As a last line of defense, the polishing filter uses carbon and coconut husk fibers to purify the water before it is dispensed into your glass. The result? Crisp, clean, revitalizing alkaline water, which studies suggest, allows the body to absorb water more readily and hydrate faster.
A well-hydrated office is a more productive office. Getting Q-Series machines with built-in RO water systems and alkaline water systems for your office is just the one way to keep your staff hydrated. Click here for other ways to facilitate healthy hydrating habits in the workplace.
The innovations within the Q-Series machines expand beyond advanced filtration technologies. The Q3, Q4, Q5, Q7, Q8, and Q12 also include best-in-class sanitization technologies, such as LED ultraviolet light, antimicrobial surface protection, and touchless water dispensing options. Those sanitization features add additional layers of protection that help keep harmful germs out of your water.

What makes quenchWATER+ drinking water so much better?
The difference between quenchWATER+ and other filtered water is Quench’s proprietary 5-filter set-up. The first filter on this journey is the sediment filter. Water passes through small holes in a series of membranes, but anything larger than 5 microns, or roughly the size of a piece of sand, is blocked from passing through.
After the sediment filter has removed any larger contaminants and dissolved solids from the water, it passes through the pre-carbon filter. This uses activated carbon to filter anything larger than 1 micron, or about the size of a speck of flour, from the water. It also prevents chemical compounds, like chlorine, from passing through.
The next step is Reverse Osmosis, which pushes water molecules through a semipermeable membrane, removing any contaminants, including viruses, bacteria, pesticides, salts, and fluoride while at the same time reducing lead.
Now the water is pure, completely free of any dissolved solids – both the harmful contaminants and the beneficial minerals, like calcium and magnesium. Pure reverse osmosis water, without the beneficial minerals, tastes flat and acidic. So, we have created our proprietary Mineral+ enhancing filter.
The Mineral+ enhancing filter is FDA- and NSF-certified to add essential electrolytes and minerals to the pure reverse osmosis water. The water absorbs calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and sodium, by flowing through mineral beads in the sterile environment of our proprietary mineral filter.
The final and fifth filter is the polishing filter, a type of carbon filter than uses fine coconut husk fibers and activated carbon to purify the water one last time. The result? Crisp, clean, revitalizing alkaline water, which studies may suggest, allows the body to absorb water more readily and hydrate faster.
