Quench Bottleless Water Coolers
bottled water delivery
Atlanta started as a railroad hub at the headwaters of 2 large river basins: the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint and the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa. Despite its seemingly advantageous location, the city had difficulty meeting demands for freshwater. A high density of granite in the region reduced Atlanta water quality and groundwater resources, and early residents had to rely solely on surface water.
In the 1930s, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recommended the development of a water storage system. In 1946, construction began on the Buford Dam north of Atlanta, Georgia. This created Lake Lanier, which has provided water and recreation for the local residents of Atlanta. City growth over the next few decades spurred the construction of a second dam, forming the Allatoona Lake.
Shortly after, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia filed suits citing the environmental and economic impacts of the new dams. These lawsuits would incite a decades-long “water war” involving the division of the water available in the two river basins, unresolved to this day.
Today, metropolitan Atlanta consumes an average of 560 million gallons of drinking water daily. Seventy percent of Atlanta drinking water comes from Lake Lanier, and both the Chattahoochee River and Allatoona Lake provide additional water sources.
The 2 original reservoirs continue to serve the city. Runoff from urban, suburban, and agricultural areas makes them susceptible to chemical pollution, sediment, and microbial contaminants, and only a single water treatment facility maintains Atlanta water quality. Because Atlanta relies entirely on surface water, its drinking water supply is also vulnerable to drought.
Worried about the urban, suburban, and agricultural waste runoff that seeps into your local Atlanta drinking water, including chemical pollution, sediment, and microbial contaminants? We are too, and that’s why we’re here to help. Quench offers a full complement of water filtration and sanitization technologies to remove sediment, reduce chemical contaminants, including lead, and get rid of off-tastes and odors. Depending on your local water quality, your Quench Water Expert may recommend our NSF-certified carbon filtration, which works great for water with TDS (total dissolved solids) levels under 250 ppm (parts per million) or our NSF-certified reverse osmosis (RO) filtration, which is the gold standard for water with TDS levels over 250 ppm. By creating a customized water filtration solution and tailoring your installation and service needs for your business, we can guarantee that Quench office water coolers produce crisp, clean, great-tasting water – and at a fraction of the price of bottled water delivery services.
